# Good starting points. *Your way of working*.

Explore forms, workflows and saved views for the work your facility does every day. Start with a role, look closely at a job, then adapt the starting point to your own team.

## Key facts

- **Procedures read**: 294, from 112 institutions, October 2026
- **Blocks**: 3: Vet, Operations, Compliance
- **Jobs**: 24, each done at least 3 ways

## Start with the work you own.

Three, one for each person who decides on software like this.

- [The Vet block](https://streamcell.com/library/vet): **For the attending vet.** Sick animal reports, health cases, post-op records, humane endpoints, found-dead animals, imports and quarantine, and rodent health monitoring: 7 jobs, read at 49 institutions. Its views include a case board and a morning list of open cases.
- [The Operations block](https://streamcell.com/library/operations): **For the facility manager.** The work queue, daily room logs, cage wash checks, rooms out of range, water quality, enrichment, new cages and the census, transfers, service requests, billing changes and the manager's reports: 11 jobs, read at 66 institutions. Its views include today's tasks by person and cages by PI.
- [The Compliance block](https://streamcell.com/library/compliance): **For the compliance officer or IACUC office.** Adverse event and noncompliance reports, post-approval monitoring, semiannual inspection findings, training expiry, welfare concerns and hands-on competency: 6 jobs, read at 50 institutions. Its views include open findings and training that expires in 30 days.

Each block starts from the most common way we found for each job. Your team then changes the forms and workflows to fit how your facility works, and each block page shows how other facilities do it differently.

- **Compliance officer or IACUC administrator:** Reports, visits, findings and training, each under its protocol. [Open the Compliance block](https://streamcell.com/library/compliance)
- **Technician:** You file most of the first records in all three blocks. Your vet or manager decides. [Pass it to your vet](https://streamcell.com/who-its-for#technicians)

## Take a closer look at the everyday.

Follow a workflow, compare the ways facilities handle it, and explore the form field by field. Six practical guides, with the research behind each one.

- [Sick animal reports](https://streamcell.com/library/sick-animal-report): 16 of 20 facilities flag the cage with a card, and the report reaches the vet team in 7 ways.
- [Health cases](https://streamcell.com/library/health-case): 13 of 16 name a step that tells the lab, none of them only for animals on a study.
- [Daily room logs](https://streamcell.com/library/daily-room-log): 10 of 12 keep the log on paper at the room, and 8 of 12 send it to a manager first.
- [Surgery and post-op records](https://streamcell.com/library/rodent-surgery-post-op-record): 11 of 12 post-op records log each pain-relief dose, and 2 of 12 have a field for pain.
- [Post-approval monitoring](https://streamcell.com/library/post-approval-monitoring): 7 of 13 IACUC programs book a visit to the lab and send the PI a written report.
- [Rodent health monitoring](https://streamcell.com/library/rodent-health-monitoring): 6 of 15 programs have dropped live sentinel animals for PCR testing.

## Built from the work facilities publish.

We read the procedures research animal facilities publish (SOPs, policies, forms and instruction pages) and turned each one into a record we could count: how the job starts, who passes it to whom, what the form asks and where the record is kept. The research covers 20 jobs: 236 procedures from 98 institutions in the US and Canada, mostly universities, with 80 headline rows re-checked by a second team. Four operations jobs, 58 more procedures, were added in October 2026. No customer data is in it.
