From the sick animal report to the vet's call.
Streamcell runs the lab animal health case: the technician opens a case at the cage, the vet tech logs the assessment and treatment, the case reaches the vet by priority and urgency, and the lab is told if the animal is on a study. The whole case sits under the animal use protocol the animal is on.

01What does health case software do for a research vet?
What does health case software do for a research vet?
It puts every open case in one place, with the assessment already on it when the case reaches you.
When something is wrong, the technician opens a health case and the right people are told. Cases reach the vet by priority and urgency, and the vet recommends a treatment or a humane endpoint. If the animal is on a study, Streamcell tells its lab. You can see where every case is without chasing anyone.
02How does a sick animal report become a case?
How does a sick animal report become a case?
The report is the first status of the same record, so nothing is copied from a card into a second system.
In the procedures we read, 13 of 20 facilities write the same report in two or more places, such as the cage card and a web form. In Streamcell the sick list, the health concern and the clinical case request are one record that moves on: Reported, With vet team, Lab told, Closed. For the cases you see every week, a QR code on the rack opens the form already filled in: scan it and add the animal.
Reported at the cage
Husbandry staff open the case from a phone or a rack code, with room, rack and protocol filled in.
Assessed by the vet tech
The assessment and treatment go on the case, with the treatments due on a calendar.
Decided by the vet
The case reaches the vet by priority and urgency, for a treatment or a humane endpoint.
The lab is told
If the animal is on a study, the workflow emails its lab. You write what they read.
03Where do rechecks and treatments go?
Where do rechecks and treatments go?
On the case they belong to, so a recheck never becomes a new line on a spreadsheet.
A health case holds its treatments, rechecks, notes and attachments, and moves through Open, Waiting on lab, Under treatment, Monitoring and Closed. Every change to a record stays in its audit trail, so when an inspection or a protocol review asks about a case, its full history is there to show.
04Can a health case link to the mouse record in SoftMouse?
Can a health case link to the mouse record in SoftMouse?
Yes. Attach the SoftMouse.NET animal to a health case, and the case shows its history, genealogy and genotype.
Streamcell is made by the team behind SoftMouse.NET. Your colony stays in SoftMouse, and the health case, its treatments and the lab's reply live in Streamcell, pointing at the same animal. For SoftMouse customers
05Will it fit how our vet team already works?
Will it fit how our vet team already works?
Your team builds the forms, so the case asks what your vets ask.
Start from a PDF of a form you use today, or a photo of a cage card, and Streamcell drafts it for you to finish. The Vet block gives you seven starting forms, from the first sick animal report to the closed health case, built from 90 public procedures at 49 facilities. When your process changes, change the form that day.
A few useful answers
Before we talk.
Questions
Is Streamcell for veterinary clinics?
No. Streamcell is for research animal facilities. Clinic software is built around pets and their owners, and a research facility runs on protocols, studies and a different team.
Is Streamcell only for mice?
No. Streamcell supports many species, including large animals such as pigs.
I only need colony and breeding records. Is Streamcell for me?
Start with SoftMouse.NET, from the same team. It has managed colonies since 2008.
